Lt. Gen. Al Edmonds Appointed to VA Commission on Military Installations and Defense Activities

Congratulations to Lt. Gen. Al Edmonds for being appointed by Gov. Bob McDonnell as one of the 10 members of the Virginia Commission on Military Installations and Defense Activities.

The commission, chaired by retired Navy Adm. John C. Harvey Jr., is in charge of analyzing how the military cutbacks will affect the state, especially areas like Hampton Roads and the Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. The complete list of the commission members are listed in the public announcement from the Office of the Governor.

NBC4 Washington Features Gen. Al Edmonds

EES and LAI were recently featured on NBC 4 Washington highlighting General Edmonds for Black History Month. NBC 4 covers the local news for Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Based on General Edmonds history of being a leader within the Black community for over the past forty years he has seen a lot, contributed a lot, and made more sacrifices than one will ever know for the continued success of African Americans. He is noted a trailblazer for creating opportunities for people today. Mr. Edmonds claims wholeheartedly that his greatest joy comes from “providing opportunities for employment to others.” Members of the NBC 4 news staff sat down with General Edmonds to discuss his vibrant history, his companies’ histories, and their future.

Salute to the Military Awards Ceremony

The Fairfax Chamber of Commerce held its Second Annual Salute to the Military at the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner, Virginia on May 24, 2011. The featured speaker was the former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense, . Dr. John J. Hamre. The 2011 honorees were General George A. Joulwan, USA (Ret.) and our Chairman and CEO, Lieutenant General Albert J. Edmonds, USAF (Ret.). Both were recognized for their contributions to the military for their more than 30 years of active military service and continuing contribution to defense and government related industries. The awards were accepted on behalf of all the men and women who are currently serving and have served our Nation.

NASA Recognizes Gen. Edmonds

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Administrator and former Astronaut, Charles F. Bolden, Jr., presented NASA’s Exceptional Public Service Medal (EPSM) to EES and LAI Chairman and CEO, Lieutenant General Albert J. Edmonds, USAF (Ret.) at a ceremony at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC on May 11, 2011.

The EPSM is awarded to any individual who was not a Government employee during the period in which the service was performed. The award is given for exceptional contributions to NASA’s mission. General Edmonds was recognized “For exemplary leadership, dedication, and commitment to NASA as a member of the NASA Advisory Council and Chairman of the NASA IT Infrastructure Committee.”
